This term we are planning to support the children’s personal, social and emotional development by introducing new opportunities for them to care for guinea pigs that will be living at preschool and also we will be having some butterfly chrysalis next week.

The children will be supported in learning how to handle the animals safely and gently and caring for their needs such as feeding them and cleaning their cages. These opportunities will allow conversations with adults that will develop their awareness of caring for others and understanding the natural world around us.

The children leaving us in July to start school in September will be supported on a daily basis in gaining confidence in their self help skills and building on their numeracy and literacy skills. We will also be supporting new and ongoing friendships that will help the children with this important transition. Should you have any concerns or queries regarding your child  please do not hesitate to speak to Tracey or Karen. We will be working closely with Mrs Marshall, Head of the Foundation Unit at Robert Miles this term to ensure a smooth transition in September.

You may be aware that we are currently recruiting for a new Deputy Manager position. This is because Karen will be leaving pre-school at the end of this summer term. Karen is planning to start a new role as a Childcare Assessor supporting qualifying practitioners to reach their full potential. From September Tracey will be managing the setting on a full time basis and we wish Karen every success in her new role. If you wish to have further details regarding the new job vacancy please speak to Tracey at pre-school.
