January February 2018 Newsletter

Welcome back to everyone after what I hope was a wonderful Christmas and New Year! We were excited to hear all about the celebrations that the children had and it seems that all of them were on the ‘Good’ list this year!! A huge well done to all of the children for a wonderful Christmas performance again, with beautiful singing and acting, and a big thank you to yourselves for raising a fantastic £218 for the pre-school!

This half term we will be learning how to look after different animals, we have made friends with another setting and we have been sending them some information about our guinea pigs and they will send us some information back. We are hoping to have a visit from Isabella’s mummy, who is a veterinary nurse and also from some very friendly family pets. (If your child is particularly frightened of a certain animal, please let me know and I can plan accordingly)

We now have most parents signed up to view their child’s learning journey via Tapestry but if you are still struggling please let me know and I can look at how we can rectify this. It is a lovely way of keeping up to date with your child’s learning and a great way to add your own thoughts.

A reminder that you only have until the 15th of January to apply for your child’s school place for September 2018. If your child turns 5 between 1st September 2018 and 31st August 2019. You must apply online at

**Allergy/grape advice**

Thanks again for your continued support regarding Nut allergies. To ensure that our children are safe at all times can you please ensure that you do not send in food containing nuts or products that say they may contain nuts. Care must be taken that chocolate spread is not the ‘Nutella’ brand, but one that does not contain nuts.

Can you please ensure that grapes (or similar e.g. olives) in children’s lunch boxes are sliced vertically so they do not pose a choking risk.

Again this year we will be holding a Ready for School meeting at Robert Miles Infant School. Teachers from all local schools come together with settings and parents to discuss what is expected of your child when they start school, this September. An invite will be sent out to all parents that have children leaving in July and is open to all families (regardless of their preferred school) as all local schools attend.

The date for this is January 30th  at 6.00pm

Can you please ensure that all uniform, lunch boxes and drinks bottles are named clearly to ensure that they go home with the correct families?

Now that the colder weather is upon us please ensure your child comes to pre-school with the appropriate clothing for the weather that day. We have free flow inside and outside all day so make sure they have plenty of warm layers and a hat. Thank you.
