April/May newsletter

April/May Newsletter.
Welcome back to everyone after a warm and relaxing Easter break, the children all seem to have had a great time with plenty of Easter egg hunts taking place. We will be continuing our planting and growing theme this term, growing vegetables and choosing plants to make the outside space even more beautiful! We are hoping to spend some time at a nearby allotment too. The children have been investigating how things move in their role play so we will be extending this to a transport theme, making various modes of transport and testing our engineering skills!

Thank you!

A massive thank you to all of those who donated cakes, wine, tombola items and teddies for our Spring Fair, it was yet again a huge success. Thanks to all those that came and all those that helped! We couldn’t do this without the help of our fantastic committee and without your kind donations. Fundraising is a huge part of us being able to provide such a fantastic environment for your children to play and learn in, and we are eternally grateful for your support in all of our fundraising activities. This year we made £307.90 to add to our total. We will be asking the children for their ideas on how they would like to spend this money.

We are holding an evening course at Buttercross aimed at parents who would like to learn vital skills that could save a baby/child’s life. Instructors from ‘Notts Save a Life’ will provide up to date and invaluable knowledge about saving lives. This will be free for all parents and will take place on the 22nd May at 6.30pm. Please see Tracey to book your place.

Thank you to the Co- Op and to everyone that chose us as their community project and supported us by using their Co-Op card while shopping, a truly MAGNIFICENT amount of £1896 was awarded to Buttercross Pre-School, which is truly an amazing amount of money for us to receive. The money will be spent working to support the families of children at Buttercross Pre-School to help their children be the best that they can be. By investing in home learning resources and support classes, we will be able to help all children reach their full potential. It will also enable us to provide an outdoor reading den for our garden. Watch this space for photos!

**Allergy/Grape advice**
Thanks again for your continued support regarding Nut allergies. To ensure that our children are safe at all times can you please ensure that you do not send in food containing nuts or products that say they may contain nuts. Care must be taken that chocolate spread is not the ‘Nutella’ brand, but one that does not contain nuts.
Can you please ensure that grapes (or similar eg olives) in children’s lunch boxes are sliced vertically so they do not pose a choking risk.

Can you please ensure that all children’s clothes, lunch boxes and bottles are clearly labelled with your child’s name so that we can match property with their rightful owners!
