Our topic this term is Dig and Grow and Life cycles-

The children are enjoying planting some bedding plants this week and we have sowed some fruit and vegetables in our raised beds. We are hoping to enjoy some fresh fruit and vegetables for our snack later this term. We wonder if the beans which were planted last term are thriving at home and if you have a picture of your child’s beanstalk we would love to see them in order to support the children during conversation around our topic.

The children will also be learning about life cycles during our visits to the wildlife area this term. We have already spotted frog spawn and now tadpoles in the pond area. The children will also be able to learn about the life cycle of a butterly when we have our crysalides in pre-school later this term. We are hoping for some fine weather to support lots of fun learning and play outdoors and opportunities to explore and experience den building in the wild life area.

Sound wall

We are in the process of building a sound wall in our outdoor area. To finish it, we need some old small saucepans or frying pans and lids. We are also trying to source an old washboard….. if you are able to donate any of these please speak to Tracey or Karen.

Lunchboxes

We have noticed recently that some of the items sent in lunchboxes are foods that are said to contain nuts. Please could we remind parents/carers to check the list of ingredients in foods to ensure that they are nut free. This will ensure the ongoing safety of the children in our setting with nut allergies. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
